Words for my 18 month old

At the age of 18 months, your little one should be able to say some simple words such as “mama” or “papa”. Other words that they would blabber are things that they find interesting like “ball”, “car” or the names of their toys. In this growing phase, making conversations with your little one is essential.

Here are some tips you can use to help reinforce their language development.

#Tip 1

Sing songs and nursery rhymes to help with children's language acquisition and speech development. It also helps them with their motor skills and expressing themselves.

#Tip 2

Correct your child by modeling the right word instead of saying they are wrong. When they say water as juice, tell them “This is water”. Simply correcting them on the spot will help your child learn faster.

#Tip 3

Name the things your child points at or holds. This will help them familiarise themselves with the things around them.
