OUR APPROACH
Why Values and Learning
Go Hand in Hand
Children who feel secure, respected and responsible learn better. Research on social-emotional and character education shows it goes beyond good behaviour: it links to real gains in achievement. That's why values sit at the heart of everything we do, from homework time to the dinner table.

Build Character
A values-based curriculum (Connect Time) covering responsibility, perseverance, kindness and integrity.

Understand the learner
We observe how each child focuses, takes in and remembers new work best, and adapt how we support them.

Target and strengthen
Our Weakness Taxonomy (see 4.5) turns homework time into focused progress.
WHAT RESEARCH SHOWS

11
Percentile
Point Gain
A large meta-analysis of school-based social-emotional learning programmes (Durlak et al., 2011, 200+ studies) found an average 11-percentile-point gain in academic achievement alongside better behaviour. Our approach is consistent with MOE's Character & Citizenship Education (CCE) emphasis.

Whole-child growth; CONFIDENT, COMPASSIONATE, & CONSCIENTIOUS.
HOMEWORK SUPPORT & THE WEAKNESS TAXONOMY
Not More Work, The Right Work.
Most homework support stops at "done." Ours starts there.
Our Weakness Taxonomy maps each subject into specific skills and error types, so we can see exactly why a child is losing marks, not just that they are.

Spot
Teachers tag recurring mistakes during homework time (e.g. Maths: "misreads the question" vs "a concept gap in fractions")

Sort
Each weakness is classified by type and priority

Strengthen
Short, targeted practice on one or two areas at a time. Small, steady wins, never overstretching.

REAL PROGRESS, REAL INSIGHTS
A clear snapshot of your child's progress.
Our system tracks specific skills and error types, so you can see what's improving, what needs more practice, and the next steps – all in one place.

and you always know where they stand.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
More Than a Break,
A Season for Greater Growth!
During school holidays, our primary school children spend extended hours spent with us – a valuable opportunity to go beyond routine care and enrich their development through targeted learning journeys, sports, and wellness activities.
Learning Journeys: Beyond the Classroom
Extended care hours allow for immersive, experiential learning that bridges the gap between theory and the real world.
Educational Excursions
Field trips to science centers, heritage trails, museums, and nature reserves stimulate curiosity and contextualize academic subjects.

Skill-Based Workshops
Dedicated time enables multi-day projects in STEM, creative arts, robotics, or public speaking.

Social-Emotional Learning
Group outings teach children how to navigate public spaces, practice civic responsibility, and bond with peers outside a structured classroom environment.
Sports & Physical Activities: Energy and Agility
With more time available, our programs can move past short recess games and introduce structured physical development.

Diverse Sports Exposure
Children can learn the fundamentals of unique sports like water play, badminton, or team-based sports like basketball, football and captain's ball.

Fundamental Movement Skills
Activities are tailored to refine coordination, balance, stamina, and gross motor skills essential for the 7–12 age bracket.

Character Building
Sports and games serve as a natural vehicle for teaching sportsmanship, resilience through losing, teamwork, and leadership.
Holistic Wellness: Balance & Self-Care
Holiday programs balance high-energy activities with mindful wellness practices to ensure children recharge mentally and emotionally.

Mindfulness & Relaxation
Incorporating breathing exercises, and quiet reading hours helps children manage stress and improve focus.

Nutritional Awareness
Culinary workshops and interactive lessons teach children how to make healthier food choices and understand balanced diets.

Digital Detox
Increased face-to-face interaction and hands-on hobbies provide a much-needed break from recreational screen time.

PARENT STORIES
My father-in-law told me that SC provides (disposable) raincoats for the kids. Thank you so much for taking such good care of them and looking out for them, especially on rainy days. Really appreciate! ❤️😊
— Parent of P1 Child
My daughter has been and is still attending School of Concepts at OTH for 1.5yrs now. She loves going to her weekly classes. The teachers there are very kind and patient. The pace of learning is very well suited for my child and the space is also comfortable and cosy.
— Mummy of xxx
My 7-year-old daughter has been attending the School of Concepts for almost three years now, primarily focusing on learning phonics, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The progress she has made in reading and understanding language has been remarkable.
